Appendix Carry
Why I choose it.
Near the end of 2010 I discovered a internet forum called Warrior Talk. At this forum I discovered a new world of self defense enthusiast. The people there were not just the “I have a CCW permit” crowd, they were the “I carry 24/7 and if you harm or attempt to harm me or mine you will never try it again” crowd. The guys at Warrior Talk continually talked about a form of carry I had never heard of, Appendix Carry. I turned to Google. After hours of research all I could find were links to Warrior Talk or Suarez International (an affiliate of Warrior Talk). Was it that these were the only people in the world that carry this way? Quite possibly.
I spent the next few months researching and experimenting with Appendix Carry. In my research I found several benefits. Quick access, more comfort, deeper concealment, less likely to be disarmed. I also found multiple negatives. Uncomfortable, breaks the rules of gun safety, dangerous, criminals way to carry, counter productive, and several other nasties. After some experimenting with an improvised holsterĀ I eventually decided that I did like to carry this way. Why? I am relatively small and my gun was less noticeable in the 12 o’clock position. That was really the only reason I could come up with. Did I see those dangers I had been warned about? Yes, but those same dangers I could find in any other method of concealed carry.
In mid 2011 I joined the guys from Warrior Talk to take a Suarez International class. In the beginning of this class I noticed that almost all of the students were using appendix carry. I was thinking to myself, maybe this class will show me why this is a superior method of concealed carry. After about 4 hours in the Arizona desert I discovered why I choose Appendix Carry. It was a quicker draw, easier to access, and it just works. I know I heard it just works for months and could not decide that for myself. Once I experimented and tried it in a dynamic Force on Force situation I realized that it just works.
This is my reasoning for using Appendix Carry. This is what I am most comfortable with and it defiantly should not be over looked as a method of concealed carry.

Would tell us a bit more about how you personally outfit this setup? What type of holster did you find works best for you? The picture shows a 2 O’clock position, but you mentioned 12. Do you wear it differently at times? What size frame is your side arm?
Thanks
I use a Arch Angle holster from Dale Fricke (coming soon to our online store). It looks farther to the right than it actually is. I carry it in the 1230-100 position. It does move slightly, but not far enough to really notice. I carry a Glock 23. It’s a compact sized pistol.
